These lamps were originally in our Master Bedroom. But after seeing so many DIY Lamp revamps and a lamp that Young House Love did for their nephews nursery....mine just started to look boring to me. I knew with a little bit of fabric and some trim, they would look perfectly in our Totally Awesome Living Room!!!
I will be honest here.
These have been THE HARDEST PROJECT YET!!! And, after some pretty close calls on just flat out giving up, I managed (with Matt's encouragement) to finally make them look nice. I don't really understand why I had such a hard time, BUT it was difficult. The trim was easy, just the fabric part.
I found some fabric at Hancock Fabric. It was on clearance!!!
I also bought trim and fringe from Hobby Lobby!
Here is the BEFORE:
Here is the AFTER:
I should have straightened out the fringe before taken the pic, but I was just too excited!!
I can not decide if I should spray paint the base or not or what color. Help me out!!!
Let me know your thoughts!!!!
I love to read your comments!!!

Cute. Custom shades are so fun and make a ho-hum lamp something that is personal and unique.
I'm glad you didn't give up, it looks great!

I love it!!
I am so excited to see lamp redos! I am looking to redo the one in my daughters room, so I love to see examples. Yours are darling. With so much dark on your tables, the shade really stands out, maybe paint the base a lighter shade?
Looks great! I think I'd paint the base a lighter shade.
I have a linky party going on come on over and link up! http://theshadesofpink.blogspot.com/2009/09/room-month-shade-tutorial.html
Very cute! Love the shade!
I'd paint the base, too - distressed white? Seems like that would really compliment the shade.
Great job!
Hi! Thanks for linking up at my place! I run Room a Month every Sunday evening (Monday morning) and leave it up all week. Don't ask why it's called "room a month"! LOL I started the room a month idea with the best of intentions and then realized I would NEVER complete a room, let alone in a month!

Hi Ashlee! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am delighted to visit your wonderful blog. I love what you've done with your lamp. I'd paint the base a lighter color such as the infamous Heirloom White. I'll enjoying visiting you in the future. Blessings!!

Ahhhhh...the power of trim!!! Looks fab!!!
Love that beaded trim! I think the lamp base would be great painted a creamy white or ivory color, but it looks good how it is too! Just do whatever you like best. :)
