Our First Home Feature!!

Cheri over at Its So Very Cheri is hosting a Home Tour each week and Matt and I get the opportunity to show you a part of our home that we have worked very hard on:
Our Living and Dining Room

If you are visiting from Its So Very Cheri, Thanks for stopping by! We hope you enjoy our home and Our "different style" of decorating!

Here is a little background of our first home!
We chose to build our first home last September and finally moved in on December 15, 2009.
We were BLESSED beyond belief at how The Lord opened up doors for us to be able to have this WONDERFUL home, and we are very thankful!
We have collected alot of treasures from traveling to Mexico
and all other places that we have been able to go!!
Our Home:
1768 Square Feet
3 Bedrooms
2 1/2 Baths
Bonus Room

NOW, onto the Tour........

Here are your HOSTS for the day!

Matt, Azul and Me
(sorry for the blurry picture, Azul was a little wiggly)

La Casa de Workman

Here is Our Front Porch
Matt made some Awesome Planter Boxes and Table
(we have recently added a border around both flower beds)

Our Front Door,
Come on in.....

This is the view as you step in the front door...

We just painted the Red Section above the fireplace this past weekend!!
A very special thank you to my husband Matt!!

Up the stairs and to the right is 2 bedrooms, bonus room and guest bath

To the right of the entrance is this picture that Matt's uncle took for us as a housewarming gift. It was taken in Rockport, TX where we all vacationed together 2 years ago.

This Mask came from Progreso,Yucatan as we cruised there this April
It is on the left wall as you enter

Front Window
Matt redid this cedar chest to match the other furniture in our home.
It belonged to my Great Grandmother Lucille.

The cushions are from World Market,
it fit perfectly underneath the window to make a window seat

You can read how I made these Scrapbook Vases HERE

Chino Curtains from Walmart. They were initally too short, so I added some cute fabric to the bottom =)

This is two pics of Sunsets that we saw on our Cruise to Mexico.
The top one was while we were pulling away from Sunny Cozumel, and
the bottom one was when we were coming back into the Gulf of Mexico.
I just printed them out and framed them!
They were just to pretty for a photo album =)

Another View

Our Beautiful Stone Fireplace
We had our choice of Tile, Brick or Stone when we were picking things out for our home.
You can read about the antique planters with bamboo HERE
The orchid was a housearming gift from our realtor

This handpainted tile is from Cozumel. It is of Punta Sur Ecological Park where we snorkeled there last April.
The Mask is from there as well, it is made of Onyx, Tourquoise, Mother of Pearl and shells

This chair was a MAJOR splurge. We had it designed at Bassett Furniture.
This was a BEFORE WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE purchase....
But was so worth it!!
It is SOOOOO Comfortable!

View from Dining Room
My wonderful husband Matt redid these coffee and end tables

Pillows are from Pier 1. I had my eye on them for so long, but waited for them to go on sale.
They go PERFECTLY!!

The wall sconces are from Kirkland's
I just love all the COLOR in them.
You can easily bring out different colors, just by changing out the candles.

This handmade throw is from Progreso, Yucatan
This was Matt's idea to drape it over the stairs.
I love it there!!

This Gorgeous Clock is also from Kirkland's.
Isn't it so "different" looking

This is a Mayan Calendar from Progreso, Yucatan
It is hanging over our doorway that leads to the Master Bedroom

I just recently finished these lamps.
I am most proud of these because they were SOOOO hard to do.

The paint colors that we chose are:
The large wall behind the couch: Flame Yellow-Porter Paints
The wide section around the fireplace: California Poppy-Behr Paint and Primer-in-one

The bamboo rug is from Pier 1

Our Dining Room:
The paint beneath the chair rail: Burnt Amber-Valspar

Azul got in this pic!!!

We  found these pictures at Old Time Pottery.
Don't they just go so well!!

The table runner was on Clearance at Pottery Barn, and we used a gift card that was from my Grandma!!

The vase and Flowers are from The Dollar Tree

Here are two views  from the landing at the top of the stairs
We absolutely LOVE this feature of our house.
It is what set it apart from all the other houses that we looked at.
The Lord knew our "STYLE" =)

My SIL Lindsey gave us these Curtain Sconces before we were married.
I had a great idea to turn them into Plant Holders.
They are over our Front Door.
*****DON'T WORRY, Matt did the ''Slam'' test*****

The urns are from Hobby Lobby for $4 each
The floral stems are from Old Time Pottery

Here are a few pics from our Kitchen.
We are about to do a Tile Backsplash in the next few weeks...
YAY!!!

My favorite part of the kitchen is the Countertops.
We wanted something ''Different'' ( Go figure right??)
We chose this aqua blue color called Ubatumba

This canvas painting came from Old time Pottery for $20
I was just drawn to all the colors in it

See how I covered out Lightswitch covers HERE

We installed some Under the Cabinet lighting that required NO electrical work.
You read about them HERE

We love how they turned out. ($42 total)

That was our home. We are thrilled that you chose to stop by.

We just enjoy working together to make our home "OURS"
&
Traveling to find some unique finds!!

I just want to take the opportunity to thank my husband Matt, for all his hard work.
We have a BEAUTIFUL home, and I am thankful that you are open to my
MANY CRAZY DFIFFERENT
Ideas!!!

Feel free to leave your comments and thoughts.
We would love to read them....

Hi Ashlee and Matt! I came from Cheri's blog. You have a beautiful home. I love the warm colors and the touch of oranges. Your nice Mexican souvenirs are looking so familiar since we go on a Caribbean cruise 2 to 3 times a year. Thank you for showing us your beautiful home...Christine

Thanks for the tour!!! I love to see homes that are actually decorated by the people who live there. And that they use things that are special to them & that they love. I can tell each item has a special meaning to you & your hubby. Congrats to the both of you, you did good.
